Biodata:
Dr. Rosy Chhabra has been involved in working with HIV
infected minority population for the last ten years. Her
work in the past has focused on quality of life issues of
HIV infected population and in designing support programs
for women.

Dr. Yusuf Merchant is the president of Drug Abuse Information
Rehabilitation and Research Centre and also of the Hope
2002 International Conference. He has conducted Drug
Intervention Education that has reached over 40,000
students, has trained members of the Enforcement agencies
and has been conducting a Rehabilitation program for the
last 20 years , which has a current success rate of about
85 percent.
Dr Yusuf Merchant and Dr Rosy Chhabra are jointly
conducting STEP, an HIV education program jointly
organized by the World AIDS Foundation, Memorial
Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center & DAIRRC.

Topic of Presentation:
International Technology Transfer
of HIV Prevention Education Programs.
Abstract:
About thirty percent (300 million) of India’s
total population is between the ages of 10 to 24 years (UNFPA,
2000). The attitude, health-related experiences and
behavior of these youth directly impacts the future of
Indian society as these variables affect their
educational, social and financial choices. This paper
outlined a methodology designed to combine elements of the
models of successful curriculum based HIV prevention
programs in the US with the existing community-based
efforts in India to guide our approach to HIV/AIDS
awareness propagation.

Biodata:
Ms. Reyna Kasiram is a researcher and
physiotherapist who is intimately involved with HIV/AIDS
on a daily basis. She has undertaken 4 years of practical
work training and was inspired by her experience to
research knowledge and attitudes towards HIV/AIDS. She has
had physiotherapy experience in several provinces in South
Africa and is very knowledgeable in the field of caring
for the HIV/AIDS patient.

Abstract:
The presentation purported to provide researched
evidence that underscored the need for education and
knowledge amongst professional care givers to promote

Dr.Saraswathi Sankaran is a sociologist
specialized in lifestyle analysis. She has worked for over
two decades as a Counsellor in areas of ‘Level of Living’,
‘Welfare’, ‘Alcoholism’, and ‘Drug Abuse’. She has been
involved in AIDS control programs advocating ‘no risk’
lifestyle and Reproductive and Child Health in the last 15
years.

Abstract:
This presentation displays that through
workplace education and a supportive system an industry
can significantly prevent HIV/AIDS amongst employees as
well as remove myths and misconceptions.

Retailing Good Health- An
experience with a Petroleum Company
Abstract:
The Hope Foundation and Bharat Petroleum have
set up what is called Diagnostic Picture Tests Kiosk in
One Stop Truck Shop in Dhon (A.P) in the Petrol Bunk
operated by the Company. This has helped to educate
hundreds of truckers to think about their STIs and about
the dangers of HIV/AIDS. The experiment is in the initial
stages, and the findings were discussed in this paper.
